Estate Planning
While not something anyone wants to think about, Estate preparation is not only one of the most important things you can do for yourself, but also for your loved ones. You can make sure that everything you earned goes exactly where and to whom you want it to, and not anywhere else. Simultaneously you can also avoid and lessen any burden left to your loved ones during what is already a highly emotional time. All of this can be achieved, for most people, very easily and in only three documents. Here at Kalish & Associates we pride ourselves in assisting our clients craft a customized, holistic approach to estate planning and can assure you that the preparation process is significantly less burdensome than what you would imagine.
1
LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
The backbone of any Estate Planning, this document outlines your wishes for your property, and is extremely customizable. It is also the best way to help simplify the process for your loved ones after you pass.
2
GENERAL DURABLE POWER OF ATTORNEY
This document allows you to appoint another, someone you trust, with the authority to essentially do anything you can do with a pen, on your behalf. It is vital to assist you in managing your affairs should you either be mentally or physically unable to do so for yourself.
3
MEDICAL PROXY/HIPPA
Included in our Power of Attorney but sometimes referred to as a separate document, this document allows another to access your medical history, prescriptions, speak with your doctors. What the Power of Attorney is for money, it is for medical information.
4
ADVANCED HEALTHCARE DIRECTIVE
Sometimes referred to as a "living will" this document allows you, while you are of sound mind and body, make decisions about your end of life wishes. While very difficult, by taking these decisions into your own hands, you can help ease your loved one's of having to make those difficult decisions alone.
4
TRUST?
Recently many clients have come in asking for a Trust, when a Will would achieve the same goals for far cheaper. We can help you determine the best choice for your specific situation.
